The inner peace you’ve carried out with you during your session brings you to a more calmly approach throughout the day while also helping improve certain medical conditions.

Your goal is to overcome stress through meditation. You can actually meditate anywhere you feel comfortable. You just need to focus and clear your mind in order to internalize a sense of serenity and calmness despite of what’s going on around you. You may follow the following steps, allowing you to overcome your stress on the path of balance and harmony.

  • Look for a quiet place to meditate. You need to practice meditation in some place peaceful and calming wherein you will not also be interrupted throughout your meditation practice. You’ll also be more focused and less distracted of what’s happening around you. You can opt to stay at home or go out and try to find for a place as long as you feel comfortable and at peace in it.
  • Make sure that you wear relaxing clothes. You may feel physically uncomfortable if the clothes that you wear are very tight and distracting. As much as possible, try put on loose clothing and something that suits the weather as well to prevent you from cutting out your practice. You can also meditate on barefoot or with your socks on, as long as you make sure to remove your shoes.
  • Decide on how long will you meditate. You should consider deciding on the duration of your meditation practice. While many suggest that you meditate for at least 20 minutes, twice a day, you can still be flexible with as little as 5 minutes a day as a start. Then, you can later on adjust it to whichever suits you best.
  • Do some stretching exercises first before you begin your practice. In meditating, you’ll have to sit in one place for a specific period of time so you need to do some stretching first in order to prevent any muscle tension or tightness. Doing that will prepare and condition both your mind and your body.
  • Find the most comfortable position for you to meditate. It is very important that you sit in a relaxed position. Choose a posture that you’re at ease with taking into consideration your legs, hips and lower back to prevent you from hurting your spine.
  • Close your eyes. As a beginner, it is more likely to help you if you’ll have your eyes closed while meditating. Closing your eyes will prevent you from being distracted and blocks you out away from any external stimulation.

When you meditate, you clear your mind from any information that builds up or overloads in your head. If you continuously practice meditating, you’ll start to gain a new perspective on stressful situations.
